First Flight from Saudi Arabia to Russia Takes Off

Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline Flynas has launched direct flights between Riyadh and Moscow in an effort to boost tourism.

The inaugural flight took place on August 1, with a ceremony attended by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Russia and Belarus, Abdulrahman Al-Ahmed, Flynas CEO Bandar Al-Mohanna, and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transport Vladimir Poteshkin.

Flights will operate three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow.

Founded in 2007, Flynas has carried over 80 million passengers to date and currently operates more than 2,000 weekly flights across 139 routes to over 70 domestic and international destinations in 30 countries.

As part of its Vision 2030 growth and expansion plan, the airline aims to increase its number of destinations to 165.
